On December 21, Chinese Association for Science and Technology (CAST) announced the list of advanced models of science and technology volunteer service in 2022, among which SCMZU Ethnology Museum’s project, “Chinese Traditional Culture — Hand Tie-Dyeing into the Grassroots”, was awarded as the advanced model of “2022 Science and Technology Volunteer Service Project”.
SCMZU’s science and technology volunteer service project awarded as the advanced model of “Science and Technology Volunteer Service Project” by the CAST in 2022.
This project attempted to popularize the scientific wisdom and hand-made techniques contained in the national tie-dyeing skills to the public by imparting and self-experiencing, creating a science and technology volunteer service brand. More than 20 volunteer service activities are carried out at the grassroots level every year, with a total of more than 3,000 hours of volunteer service in the past five years. It aims to stimulate the public’s interest in the traditional Chinese culture while providing them with opportunities to personally experience tie-dyeing.
SCMZU Ethnology Museum has vigorously exerted its function of science education by taking volunteer services and science education activities as opportunities of science education, teaching the skills of tie-dyeing to various groups.
